The Shannon Company is a Melbourne-based company that specialises in offering programs that promote behaviour change. In their own words, this is how they describe what they do:
“We do what we do for one simple reason. To make a positive difference.
Helping people and companies to change their behaviour for their own good and that of society, that is what inspires us to do ground breaking work, to leap out of bed each day.”
In 2008, The Shannon Company started its own office in Christchurch, New Zealand, with the leadership of Chris Pickrill and Christine Gooding. Since then, they have grown the company and extended its reach.
Last week, The Shannon Company New Zealand (TSC NZ) hired Vervely for a social media-related content development project.
I’m very excited to be working on a project with TSC NZ once again.
Yes, this is not the first time that I have worked with this great company. In fact, I have had a bit of a history with them.
You see, in 2004, I met Christine Gooding through blogging. Since then, we have developed both a personal and professional relationship online.
In 2006, when I was setting up a blog publishing company, Christine was one of the first people that I wanted to be on my team. We worked together in that company for almost three years.
When Christine started The Shannon Company New Zealand in 2008, I was very happy for her. It’s incredible to have witnessed her and her business partners grow this from a start-up to a thriving company. And, I really applaud the fact that they are committed to work that focuses on having positive impact in society.
When I left the company that I co-founded in 2009 (the same one that Christine and I were both involved in), she approached me to work on a couple of projects with her through TSC NZ. It was then when I first started becoming involved in online community management and content development work with TSC NZ. It was also the same year when Christine and I finally met each other in person, as she came to visit Adelaide.
Since then, we have been trying to meet each other face-to-face at least once a year. In 2010 and 2011, we have seen each other in Melbourne and I even got to visit their parent company’s Australian office. Last month, I finally got to visit her at her home turf in Christchurch, during my New Zealand Trip.
When friends are able to work together and/or when people who work together can be friends, it can be a pretty amazing thing.
And, I believe that both Christine and I are hoping that this new project that we’re working on together would just be the beginning of many amazing things between Vervely and The Shannon Company.
